A Few of My Favorite 2010 Things! 
2010 isn't over yet, but I'll go ahead and mention some of my favs... so far. Favorite Book(s): I recently discovered a treasure in L.A. Banks' Vampire Huntress series (and yes, Banks and I had a conversation about my doing the film). Favorite CD: Soldier of Love (Sade)... finally! Favorite Film: The Book of Eli (Denzel Washington, Gary Oldman, Jennifer Beales) ...wow!  Favorite Job: Directing "Route 66: Finding Nat King Cole" for Amun Ra Theatre in Nashville, TN. Favorite Moment: Thanksgiving with my family in Chicago, seeing my nieces Jennifer and Jacqueline and my nephews Jonathan and Jeffery, who I hadn't seen in too many years! Favorite Video: - The Commencement Speech of Deonte Bridges, 2010 Valedictorian of Booker T. Washington H.S. Favorite Photo: That of Ohio parents Mia and Rozonno McGhee and their children, Isaac, Josiah, Elijah, Rozonno, Madison and Olivia.   Raven in Hot Chocolate
The Debbie Allen Dance Academy (DADA) presents the World Premiere of The Hot Chocolate Nutcracker, at UCLA's Royce Hall, December 9-11, 2010.  The show features Carlo Imperato, Jaleel White, and Debbie Allen, with an original score by Mariah Carey, Arturo Sandoval, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, James Ingram, Shiamak Davar, Tena Clark and ThumpThe December 9, 2010 Gala will feature special guest performances by Raven~Symoné, Chau-Giang Thi Nguyen, Arturo Sandoval, and some of LA's finest young talent. Gala Co-Chairs are Quincy Jones, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, Denzel and Pauletta Washington.  Written, directed and choreographed by Debbie Allen, the show also features choreography by Evan Williams, Vladimir Kolesnikov, Elza Prado, Karen McDonald, Eartha Robinson, Cathie Nicholas, Chantel Heath and Dion Watson. 100 percent of the proceeds will benefit DADA, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, committed to expanding the reach of Dance and Theater arts to enrich, inspire and transform the lives of  young people in the Greater Los Angeles Area. http://www.thehotchocolatenutcracker.com

An explosion of youth talent you won't want to miss - Based on the legendary work of Langston Hughes, in an original adaptation, directed by Kenetha M. carr,  the production re-tells the story of the birth of Christ with foot-stomping, hand-clapping Gospel, Blues, Jazz, and Hip-Hop Music.  Nomalanga Eniafe's choreography and alex stadaker's music will take the audience on the musical journey of the Holiday Season. NATURAL HAIR SPOTLIGHT

Alicia Haymer is an up and coming actress who is finding out how to gracefully navigate professional conversations about working with, straightening or wigging her natural hair.   She recently starred in the Nashville Children's Theatre production of Bud, Not Buddy.    Haymer took Natural Woman / Natural Hair author T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh's Tools of the Trade workshop in Nashville, TN this fall.
