Keymáh Leads Greeks for 2012 UNCF Walk
Register Now for the 30th Anniversary UNCF Los Angeles Walk for Education, on Saturday, June 3, 2012! T'Keyah Crystal Keymáh serves again as Honorary Captain of the Greeks for HBCU's Team. The annual 5K UNCF Walk for Education helps raise critical funds to support UNCF’s 38 member Historically Black Colleges and Universities and 55,000 students.
Keymáh, a graduate of Florida A&M University and a memebr of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., encourages both Greeks and Non-Greeks to participate in the walk saying, "I hope to see many other teams again this year. If you attended an HBCU or wanted to, if your parents did, your child did or does, or if you just want to make sure the HBCUs are there for future generations to attend, please support UNCF, and this walk!" Amnesty International (AI) wants us to write a brief message of solidarity for Afghan women who have been omitted from the progress their country is making and who are not even allowed to fly a kite, a popular pastime in Afghanistan. AI will put your note on a kite and will fly it during the NATO Summit in Chicago, May 20-21, where President Obama and Afghan President Karzai will be discussing Afghanistan's transition. (My note says, "I wish my Afghan sisters could fly my kite.) To write a brief note supporting Afghan women's rights Click Here!  Please do so by Mother's Day, May 13!

Aliyah Burchette will be performing the roles of Madam de la Grand Buche and the Aristocratic Lady in the FXW production of "Beauty and the Beast" on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at 6:30 pm. at the  Frances Xavier Warde School Auditorium, 751 N. State St., Chicago, IL. Parking is free in the church parking lot across the street. Aliyah, a bright young performer who studies voice, piano and guitar, was last scene in FXW's production of  "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat."

Color of Change reminds us that The American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) is closed door group whose members underhandedly push legislation that benefits corporate interests. ALEC has written legislation to impose harsher criminal penalties on juveniles, to privatize education, and to break unions.
